2013 Tracy Cox Cape Hatteras 12-String
A gorgeous and stunning guitar by master craftsman Tracy Cox, formerly of the CF Martin Custom Shop and their master inlay artist to this day. Mr. Cox did the finest of Martin's most intricate mother-of-pearl inlay work on their very most expensive guitars such as the famous D-100 for many years. This guitar is entirely built by Mr. Cox; it is a tribute to the Historic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Built in 1802, the Hatteras Light has guided ships through dangerous shoals and past powerful ocean storms for over two hundred years. It is the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States. This tribute 12-string guitar is of magnificent Brazilian rosewood and Adirondack spruce. It has abalone trim around the top, back, and sides, with magnificent hand-cut inlay on the peghead of walnut, maple, and hand-engraved mother-of-pearl depicting the Hatteras Light and the compass points. The entire length of the fingerboard is set in paduak, red myrtle walnut, maple, and abalone, showing a spectacular mermaid with undersea vines. The special inlays at the heel and endplate are of fossilized material and NewGold wire and have beautiful sea-related scenes in scrimshaw. There is a three-masted sailing ship and an octopus inlaid into the Brazilian rosewood pickguard, and seahorses inlaid into the bridge. A truly gorgeous and unique instrument with sound, tone, and playability to match. A rare opportunity to own an instrument by one of the world's foremost guitar maker; a magnificent bargain at $10,000 w/hsc
