2012 Gretsch 6122II Country Gentleman
The Gretsch Chet Atkins County Gentleman! The one and only, the famous one, a gorgeous re-creation of the early '60s version that George Harrison played with The Beatles. This recent incarnation, made in Japan, is by far the best of them all. It is so neat and clean, both inside and out, and so much better-built than the originals which were and are fabulously cool but, well, not the most assiduously done. I know this for a fact: I worked in the original Gretsch factory in Brooklyn, NY in the early 1960s doing parts installation and final setup on hundreds of Gretsch guitars after they came from the finish department, right before they were sent out to dealers. When Fender took over the right to produce and sell the Gretsch line in the 1990s I helped them get some of the models right and then helped them get the line internationally known by carrying them in my store. I’m a pretty picky guy, especially when it comes to structural integrity, and for fit and finish and what Fender achieved with their Japanese partners this guitar is tops, tops, in every way. This particular example came to me from a long-time pal who worked with Fender for years and it is perfect. Never played, never taken out, just put away. Got all the Gretsch serial-numbered paperwork with it too. Go for it! I Wanna Hold Your Hand! Love Me Do! Only $2295 w/ohsc
