1981 Gurian CLM
Here is something you are not likely to see again, ever: A genuine Gurian classical guitar from the Gurian factory in New Hampshire in 1981, thoroughly gone over personally by Micheal Gurian himself in the 1990s. The classical guitars produced by Gurian in the 1970s-80s are without doubt the very finest production classics ever made in America, and are sought after and treasured by professionals and aspirants alike. This CLM model has mahogany back and sides and a Western Red Cedar top; all woods used by Gurian in those years were hand-selected by Michael. The bridge is Brazilian rosewood, the fingerboard ebony, and I can remember going with Michael many, many years ago down to the docks in Brooklyn to select ebony logs that had just come off the ship. The tuning machines on this Gurian CLM are Van Gent, from Holland; top notch. The finish is of course nitro lacquer. Michael serviced this guitar himself in 1992, installed new bone nut and saddle, did setup work and whatever else he felt was correct. I personally own only one classical guitar and it is a Gurian CLM. I sincerely doubt that another Gurian classic can be found for sale anywhere, let alone one with this provenance; no one who has one ever wants to give it up. This one is a lifetime keeper as well. Original label and additional hand-signed and dated label by Michael Gurian both intact and visible through the soundhole. $3995 w/hsc
