1977 Fender Telecaster Thinline

1977 Fender Telecaster Thinline

The Fender Telecaster Thinline is a unique and much-copied-by-others design ever since its inception in 1969. As a sort of semi-hollowbody/solidbody electric guitar, there was never anything else quite like it. Fender updated it in 1972 by replacing the standard Telecaster pickups with a pair of Fender Wide Range humbuckers and an improved truss-rod design and there you have it, a most wonderful Fender that plays just like a real Fender (because it is) and  sounds like nothing else. This particular one is now forty-five years old but it sure doesn’t look it; it’s in fabulous condition. It was purchased at my store sometime in the 1980s (has our unmistakable decal on the back of the peghead), has been in the same hands ever since and been marvelously kept, is in beautiful original condition in every detail. There is very little wear on those wonderful Fender frets and we have just gone over it thoroughly here in our own shop to assure top playability. We’ve got it set up with .011’s, just right to get all that Fender punch out of its two-piece solid ash body, and its one-piece solid maple neck, complete with that cool only-Fender-could-bring-this-off “skunk stripe” on the back of it, feels perfect, with absolutely no finish wear.
